There appears to be something happening with the price if RAM in South Africa.
Managed to secure 2 x Kingston memory modules as mentioned in my previous post at R1400.
Got my 2013 Exchange box running now alongside my Domain Controller.
NAS Components and home streaming etc all up and running notice the run stats below:
My colleque tested with Kingston DDR3 Memory, pictures below and it works.
PCINT has kindly offered to replace the memory with the correct RAM as soon as they can find some…. 🙂
Below picture of RAM:
Bios Screen with the Kingston Ram – Shows 16GB
Since I don’t have enough ram to start up my HyperV Lab yet, I imported my domain controller in the interim and commissioned the NAS Components of the server. Below Screenshot of the impact this has on resources:
The microserver arrived and there was a lot of excitement in the air:
Once unboxed a quick bootup to make sure everything is in tact before the surgery starts:
Front Cover removed and the search for a way to get to the DIMM slots begin
Static wrist strap in hand, the motherboard finally slides out:
Server startup after memory upgrade ( Unfortunately, disappointing, sales person was wrong about the memory working in this machine )
Task Manager View once the operating system install completed:
Fortunately my collegue purchased a Kingston variation of the RAM the day before, which he kindly tested and confirmed does in fact work.
This unfortunately did signal the end of the major excitement for the evening, leaving only the cleanup after the build.
“Rubber mounted” SSD – Cause we all know how much vibration comes out of an SSD -:-)
The top tray is a full 3.5″ which would normally take a CD/DVD Drive, the SATA Cable runs down the side and there is a spare available SATA port on the motherboard.
Thanks to a colleague at work for spotting what I though to be an absolute steal for HOME LAB Kit, from PC International in Randburg.
